Copper gaskets are precision-cut sealing components designed for use with nuts, bolts, and threaded fasteners in critical sealing applications. Manufactured from soft annealed copper (C11000 or C12200), these gaskets provide reliable, leak-tight seals under extreme pressure, temperature cycling, and corrosive conditions. The material's inherent malleability allows the gasket to conform to irregular flange surfaces, ensuring uniform clamping force distribution. Custom configurations include any internal diameter, external diameter, thickness, and non-standard geometric shapes — circular, rectangular, or complex outlines — to match your specific fastening assembly.
Thickness depends on flange surface finish and bolt torque. For smooth machined flanges, 0.5–1.5mm is typical. For rough or pitted surfaces, use 2–3mm to allow greater compression. In high-pressure hydraulic applications, thinner gaskets (0.3–0.8mm) with higher bolt loads are recommended to minimize creep relaxation.
Reuse is generally not recommended because copper work-hardens during compression and loses its conformability. However, if the gasket is annealed (heated to 500-600°C and quenched) to restore softness, it may be reused once. For critical sealing applications, always install a new gasket to ensure reliable performance.
Any shape can be produced: circular, rectangular, square, oval, D-shaped, or complex multi-hole configurations with multiple bolt clearance holes. We work from 2D CAD drawings or sample patterns. Minimum feature size is 1mm, with tolerances of ±0.1mm achievable.
In moist or conductive environments, copper and steel form a galvanic couple. Apply a thin layer of anti-seize compound or silicone-based sealant on both gasket surfaces before installation. For aggressive service, use tinned copper gaskets or apply a barrier coating to the flange contact area.
